Can I park my car off the road on my property?
You can apply to the council for the installation of a dropped kerb that will let you drive over the pavement onto your property. The easiest way to apply for a dropped kerb is by completing our vehicular crossing application form which asks you all the information we need to know.
Alternatively you can also give us this information by calling 01753 875635 or by e-mailing highways@slough.gov.uk. Someone will take your details and an inspector will visit the site.
There are some sites where we cannot install a dropped kerb, for safety or amenity reasons. We will let you know the outcome of your request as soon as we can.
Please note that if you do not have a dropped kerb installed by the council and you drive across the pavement you are committing an offence and the council may take action against you.
Do I need planning permission for a dropped kerb or hard standing for a vehicle on my front garden?
If the dropped kerb is to be built on a classified road (A or B road then you may require planning permission) otherwise you do not. However all dropped kerbs require the permission of the council.
You can complete our vehicular crossing application form to request a dropped kerb found at this site. Or you can also give us the information by calling 01753 875635 or by e-mailing highways@slough.gov.uk.
What can I do if a vehicle is blocking access to my crossover?
Obstruction on the highway is a police matter, you will need to contact them directly.
