The sport and health action team has recently been reorganised withthree staff working for the council and three staff and the sports coaches being transferred to Slough Community Leisure Ltd.
The roles of staff transferred to Slough Community Leisure Ltd have not changed.
Jointly there is still a drive to bring sports and community activities to people across the borough.
This combined approach will bring in new ideas and new partners, and open up different approaches to how our services are delivered. We all believe sport and physical activities can improve the quality of life for many residents.
For more information on the work of Slough Community Leisure Ltd see their website.
We were the first authority in England to gain national accreditation at intermediate level for promoting race equality through sport.
The standards were devised by the Commission for Race Equality, the Local Government Association and Sport England with Sporting Equals and give accreditation to organisations which really have a positive contribution to promoting race equality in sports.
The team was successful in gaining preliminary level accreditation in November 2004 and has since improved standards further to move up to intermediate.
We are still furthering this work and the principles behind it and are pursuing the equality standards for sport which now encompass all aspects of equality - not just race.
You can read more about our race equality policy below.
