In September 2007, Slough opened three brand new schools.
The £48million private finance initiative involved the rebuilding of Penn Wood Primary School, Beechwood Secondary School and Arbour Vale special school.
The new Penn Wood Primary School opened in February 2007 and the new Beechwood and Arbour Vale schools re-opened at the start of the September 2007 autumn term.
