Travel to school and colleges

Home to school transport

Pupils of statutory school age attending maintained schools are provided with a free travel pass if:

they live in the borough of Slough and
they attend their designated school and
they live more than 2 miles from school if they are aged under 8 or more than 3 miles if they are aged between 8 and 16 years

The 2008-09 home to school transport policy and application form are available below.

To apply for transport you will need to complete and return a transport application form, found below with 2 passport-sized photos to the address detailed at the top of the form.

The transport team will notify you of the outcome of your application within 10 working days of receipt of a correctly completed form. If you require further information on transport to school please contact 01753 875729 or email edhelp@slough.gov.uk.

Transport to school on religious grounds

Slough Borough Council no longer offers transport to school based purely on religious grounds. Please refer to the home to school transport section above for information on applying for assistance.

Slough Post 16 Travel Policy 2008-09

Slough LA has its own transport policy statement for students aged 16-18 in further education and for continuing students aged 19 and over.

Slough Sustainable School Travel Strategy

Section 76 of the Education and Inspections Act requires Local Authorities to publish a travel strategy each year for children and young people who live in the area. The purpose of the strategy is to publicise transport arrangements that are already in place and outline plans to further improve these arrangements. Plans should ensure that arrangements are co-ordinated, lead to long term benefits in terms of health, improve access to education, especially for low-income groups, and reduce congestion and environmental impact.
