Art at the Centre - Slough's new High Street

A town centre for the future

Art at the Centre has brought colourful artwork and innovative designs for lighting, seating and paving to revitalise Slough's High Street.

Slough Borough Council and a group of professional artists have been working with designers – Allen Scott Ltd in conjunction with Waterman Civils – to inject colour, style and uniqueness to the town centre.

Work started on the new High Street in September 2007.

The aims of the Art at the Centre High Street regeneration programme were to:

• create a high quality, attractive and welcoming town centre environment
• embed artistic contributions into the design process
• incorporate inspirational artworks into the final scheme
• reflect and celebrate the multi-ethnic communities of Slough
• energetically engage the people of the town in the regeneration project
• build capacity and engagement in creativity and cultural activity
