Art at the Centre - Slough's new High Street

The town centre of the future

Art at the Centre is bringing colourful artwork and innovative designs for lighting, seating and paving to revitalise Slough's High Street.

A group of professional artists have been working with designers – Allen Scott Ltd in conjunction with Waterman Civils – to inject colour, style and uniqueness to the town centre.

Work started on the new High Street in September 2007 and is due to be complete in Spring 2009.

The aims of the Art at the Centre High Street regeneration programme are to:

• create a high quality, attractive and welcoming town centre environment
• embed artistic contributions into the design process
• incorporate inspirational artworks into the final scheme
• reflect and celebrate the multi-ethnic communities of Slough
• energetically engage the people of the town in the regeneration project
• build capacity and engagement in creativity and cultural activity
