If someone is drawn to the attention of social services in circumstances where it is agreed that a care package will be provided, then a financial assessment will be carried out to determine how much if anything the client will be required to pay.
There are some specialist services where there will not be an assessment, but for the vast majority, information will need to be collected. This information will include regular income and savings. There are different rules in respect of care packages delivered in the person's own home to those for people going into residential or nursing home care.
