Dog breeding licences

To run a business to breed dogs to sell them you need a licence from the local authority. This includes:

all dog breeding businesses and,
private dwellings.

A premises inspection by a Licensing Officer will be arranged on receipt of the complete application and appropriate fee. The visit is to assess the suitability of the premises to be licensed for such purpose. Each application is considered on its own merits. Where it is felt necessary a further inspection by a vet may be arranged, the fee for which is payable by the applicant.

Where a Licence is granted it imposes conditions on the:

feeding
housing
welfare of the animals
restriction on the number of litters each bitch can have
