Slough Borough Council wants your say on if it should introduce an order to give the police further powers to deal with public drinking. This was requested by Thames Valley Police.
The Designated Public Places Order would not make it an offence to drink in public areas. It will identify areas where the police would have the power to ask a person to stop drinking alcohol in a public place, or to surrender their alcohol to the police.
If the individual then does not hand over their alcohol or continues to drink, they would then commit an offence and could be issued with a fine.
The orders would cover open areas such as highways, footpaths, alleyways and parks, but would not apply to private residential gardens.
The police have recognised areas where alcohol related anti-social behaviour takes place. Below you will find more details on the:
Maps of the areas and a draft of the order can also be accessed at the Town Hall, Bath Road, Slough SL1 3UQ between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
