Following concerns from residents and councillors regarding the speed of vehicles on Lynwood Avenue, the transport department has investigated the problem and propose some solutions to reduce speeds.
Red coloured surfacing would be used on the road at both entrances to Lynwood Avenue. This makes vehicles aware they are entering a residential road, with the effect of slowing vehicles.
For the main section of the road, we would propose speed cushions. These are different from speed humps as they don’t cover the whole width of the road. They still slow down traffic, but don’t hinder emergency vehicles.
