How to Apply

You can apply online using the Council’s Housing Payment Application Form.

If you cannot use the online form, we can provide:

• A paper form
• Telephone support
• Help from an officer (assisted application)

What you need to provide

We cannot assess your application until you send all required documents. You will need to provide:

• Proof of your rent (tenancy agreement or rent statement)
• Proof of your Housing Benefit or Universal Credit
• Recent bank statements
• Details of your income and spending
• Evidence explaining why you are struggling with rent Applications without required information will be treated as incomplete. If funding runs out before you submit the missing information, the application may be refused.

What happens next?

• When all documents are received, the Council aims to decide within 14 days
• Urgent cases may be looked at sooner
• We may contact you for more details
• You may be signposted to support such as debt advice or benefits help
