Crime and safety

The Police and how to contact them

You should be and feel safe whilst living and staying in this area. You should not be subjected to any offences least of all because of your involvement in this scheme. A 'hate crime' is any criminal offence which is perceived by the victim, or anybody else, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice towards someone’s:

  • race
  • religion
  • sexual orientation
  • transgender identity
  • disability

A hate crime can include verbal abuse, intimidation, threats, harassment, assault and damage to property.

A hate incident is behaviour which isn’t a crime but which is perceived by the victim, or anybody else, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice based on the 5 protected characteristics.

None of these are acceptable and should be reported to the police.

Modern slavery and human trafficking

There are laws in this country around modern slavery. These create an offence of human trafficking and slavery/servitude. If you feel you are or have been subjected to this, then report it to the police when you are safe to do so. Likewise if you have concerns over another person being subjected to this then report it to the police.

Should you not want to speak to the Police, then you can contact Crime Stoppers online, where you can give crime information anonymously. You can also call them on 0800 555 111,

Should you be part of a group meeting in Slough and wish to have the local Police visit and speak, over any topic, or just for reassurance then please contact your local Neighbourhood Enforcement Team to arrange a visit.
