Report littering

Litter is items discarded on the street or open land and includes:

  • cigarette butts
  • chewing gum
  • food waste
  • packaging or a bag of waste.

Littering can take place on public or private land which is in the open air, where the public have access.

It is a criminal offence that carries a fine of up to £2,500 and a criminal record. A fixed penalty notice (or FPN) can also be issued for littering.
