Following the Metropolitan Police Service’s statement that a Hotpoint FF175BP fridge freezer has been identified as the initial source of the Grenfell Tower fire, the Government has ordered an immediate examination of the unit by technical experts to establish the cause of the incident.
This product, which was manufactured between 2006 and 2009, has not been subject to product recalls and this testing will establish whether any further action is required.
If you believe you may own a Hotpoint fridge freezer model number FF175BP (white) or FF175BG (grey)  you should call Whirlpool Corporation’s freephone hotline on 0800 316 3826 or visit their website to register for further updates.
At this stage there is no specific reason for consumers to switch off their fridge freezer pending further investigation.

23 Jan 2018 Recall: Kidde - Fire Extinguishers

The following notice has been issued by the manufacturer:

PRODUCT RECALL NOTICE

Approximately 169,000 push-button Pindicator fire extinguishers were sold in the UK between 1995 and 2006. Approximately 700 plastic handle fire extinguishers were sold in the UK between 2011/2012.

Affected fire extinguishers can become clogged or require excessive force to discharge and can fail to activate during a fire emergency. In addition, in some models, the nozzle may detach with enough force to pose an impact hazard.

Kidde is not aware of any incidents in the United Kingdom and other EU/EEA Member States involving the affected products. However, in the United States and Canada, Kidde has received approximately 391 reports of limited or failed activation or nozzle detachment.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately visit www.kiddesafetyeuroperecall.com or call (UK) 0800 088 5513 or (UK customers calling from outside the UK) +44 (0) 208 089 1702 to request a free replacement fire extinguisher and for instructions on returning the recalled unit, as it may not work properly in a fire emergency.
