Recalled Cardinal Type IIR Face Masks
Dear Provider,
On the 29 May we advised we had received an alert from the LRF about Cardinal Type IIR face masks Slough Borough Council may have received and forwarded on to providers. The masks were identified as having small faults although at that point were not withdrawn from the market.
However, we have now received an updated alert:
It states that although the masks meet the breathability, filtration and splash resistance requirements, in light of ongoing monitoring, further complaints reported and testing from the manufacturer on the masks, the MHRA recommends that all lots of this product are disposed of locally. There is a risk to staff wearing the mask if the foam strip on the mask flakes and enters their airway or mouth. There have also been complaints of the ties and/or stitching coming away from the mask.
As we are unable to identify the lots that have been allocated, please destroy any masks that were issued to you by Slough Borough Council before 29 May 2020.
