What our staff say

Anton Deacon, Sustainable Transport Officer

I wanted to find a job where I can make a real difference. I am passionate about environmental sustainability and reducing the harm people’s behaviour can have on our environment. However, I found the role had more variety and flexibility than I thought.

One day I can be at my desk all day, the next helping out at a bike surgery at businesses all around the town meeting different people from professionals to school children. The challenge is to break down barriers, and enable people to change their travel behaviour for the better, promoting healthier, happier and more independent lifestyles, whilst reducing the negative impact travel choices have on air quality in Slough and climate change.

I gain satisfaction seeing the impact of the work I do where people revaluate the way they travel and try alternative modes such as car sharing, learning to ride a bike or improve confidence through cycle training and cycling to work.
