What our staff say

Ciaran Crean, Active Communities Officer

The main focus of my role over the last two-and-a-half years has been coordinating the Active Slough timetable, a community physical activity programme which offers more than 100 hours of weekly activity for residents of all ages.

I’m fortunate to work with a number of fantastic community groups, sports clubs, charities, schools, coaches and most notably volunteers to make this all happen!

I love the variety this role brings, in any single week I could be delivering an Xplorer Orienteering Family Trail in one of our Green Flag parks, coaching at our award winning Run with Active Slough groups, working on a functional movement class for adults with learning disabilities or presenting at a school assembly. The work is challenging but constantly rewarding, the genuine impact our projects can have on an individual’s health and wellbeing is always a motivator.

My role also allows me to be involved in the organisation of multiple events helping to develop project management skills. We have also introduced Active Slough through social media showcasing and promoting our events which have included the Slough 5k Fun Run, Arbour Park Girls Football Festival, Great Get Together and our ever popular Playday.
