  • Hours of work: Full time 37 hours per week

Are you a high energy leader who thrives in an ever-changing environment? If yes, then we are looking for you.

The Council is under unprecedented scrutiny with both Department of Education and Department of Levelling Up Housing and Communities who are overseeing the improvement journey.

Slough is a place like no other and as a council and a children’s services company we are as unique as the community we serve. As a partnership we are forward looking and work closely together to provide the best possible services for our children and young people. Slough never stands still, no one in the town or council waits around for the good to happen; we are the drivers of change, the builders of opportunities, the creators of positive destinies.

You will provide inspirational and passionate leadership to a dedicated workforce delivering services across the town. You will bring insight into the challenges and opportunities for high quality care in children services, initiating organisational transformation to respond to these where required. You will use your financial acumen to ensure that we are investing in the right services at the right time, while driving value and a strong commercial proposition at a time when cuts to children’s services and rising inflation are creating challenges for organisations and families alike. And you will understand the importance of listening to young people and frontline staff, while also using our profile and network to raise the visibility of our work and influence change at the highest levels of government.

By being the council’s Executive Director for People (Children) and the Chief Executive of Slough Children First, you will be a key part of driving the company, generating improvements, championing the partnership and, most of all, delivering excellent services to those who need us the most. Be at the forefront of this new way of working.

There is real work to do, vital work for our children. Be a part of it.
