Drug & Alcohol Action Team (DAAT)

Who we are

The Slough Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) is a partnership combining representatives from many agencies (e.g. Police, Slough Childrens Service, the YOT, Slough Borough Council teams, The Police and Public Health) that have an interest in addressing substance misuse in the local area.

Working with our partner organisations, we commission and monitor locally provided drug and alcohol services, deliver projects and raise awareness about drug and alcohol issues in Slough.

In July 2017 the government launched its new drug strategy, replacing the old 2010 strategy. The strategy identifies the need for action from a wide range of partners, including those in education, health, safeguarding criminal justice, housing and employment. It also outlines the action that we will take at a National level to support local areas to ensure everyone plays their role in:

  • preventing people - particularly young people - from becoming drug users in the first place;
  • targeting those criminals seeking to profit from others' misery and restricting the availability of drugs;
  • offering people with a drug dependence problem the best chance of recovery through support at every stage of their life; and
  • leading and driving action on a global scale.
