You may also be able to apply for a Discretionary Housing Payment to help with rent or housing costs.
Help with budgeting and money problems

If you are struggling to pay rent
If you fall behind with rent payments, this is called rent arrears.
It is important to deal with rent arrears as soon as possible. If arrears continue to increase, this could lead to eviction.
In some cases, eviction due to rent arrears may also affect your ability to access council or social housing.
If you rent from a private landlord
Contact your landlord as soon as possible to discuss your situation.
You may be able to agree a payment plan or temporary arrangement.

If you rent from the council
In some cases, eviction due to rent arrears may also affect your ability to access council or social housing.
