At risk of homelessness

If you are leaving prison or hospital

If you are leaving prison

If you are due to leave prison and have nowhere to live, tell your probation officer at least 56 days before your release.

Do not wait until you are homeless.

Your probation officer can:

  • make a homelessness referral to the council on your behalf
  • work with our housing team to help resolve your housing situation.

To receive help from Slough Borough Council, you usually need to have a local connection to Slough.

If you are leaving hospital

If you may not have somewhere to live after leaving hospital, tell hospital staff as soon as possible.

Hospital staff can refer you to the council so we can assess your housing situation and complete an application with you.

You can also contact us directly on:

  •

If possible, contact us before you are discharged from hospital.

If you cannot return home

If you cannot return home because you are unable to manage day-to-day activities, speak to the hospital discharge team.

They may contact Adult Social Care at Slough Borough Council to arrange support.
