Housing development and contracts

The Housing Development and Contracts service deals with asset management and developing and implementing commercial initiatives:

  • RMI (repairs, maintenance and investment) contract with Osborne Property Services Ltd for the repairs, maintenance and investment in our housing assets,
  • ensuring compliance around health and safety, to the council’s social housing stock,
  • implementation and delivery of Housing Revenue Account (HRA) Asset Management Strategy,
  • creation and implementation of commercial projects including a trading partnership with Osborne that will incentivise private landlords to help prevent homelessness,
  • delivery of income generating services,
  • building new affordable housing and community facilities,
  • remodelling existing estates for new homes,
  • implementing new designs and methods to provide specialist homes to meet adult social care and corporate parenting requirements,
  • reviewing asset options to meet increasing demand for homes in Slough, including institutional finance, government grant applications, traditional public works borrowing,
  • project work including remodelling of Tower & Ashborne, Weekes Drive, potential demolition of 40 old unused garages to create 500 traditional and specialist homes in the next three years, phasing in a programme to refurbish the remaining 120 garage sites to create additional parking space or, where possible, alternative commercial or community use.
