New contract awarded to support domestic abuse victims in Slough

Slough Borough Council has awarded a three year contract to Hestia for specialist domestic abuse services, which begins on 1 April 2018.

The London based charity will provide support for high risk victims of domestic abuse in Slough, from helping with finding new accommodation to giving them the right mental health support, and enabling them to rebuild their lives.

Hestia were awarded the contract with the council after a competitive tender process in line with EU procurement regulations. They will be taking over from the council’s current provider DASH, who have supported Slough residents for the past two years. The council would like to thank DASH for their hard work and support with this contract.

Hestia will also be doing some development work across East Berkshire to ensure residents from the black, Asian, minority ethnic and refugee communities who are facing domestic abuse, can access these specialist services. This work will be funded by the Police Crime Commissioner.

The council is committed to providing information for anyone caught in an abusive relationship to empower them and help bring about positive changes to their lives.

The council is also keen to ensure that those most at risk of violence, including psychological abuse, are kept safe and given options to make the necessary life changes to live free from fear.

Cllr Pavitar K. Mann, cabinet member for regulation and consumer protection, said: “We are very pleased to announce our partnership with Hestia. The team has a wealth of experience in delivering domestic abuse services across London.

“They also have a proven track record in meeting the needs of diverse communities and we are keen to tap into this to ensure that all victims of domestic abuse, from what ever cultural background, can access these vital services.

“With Hestia, we want to reach out to victims of domestic abuse and let them know we can help, there is a way out and we will support you to transform your lives.”
