Slough Borough Council is celebrating the completion of six new green gyms in parks across the town.
To mark the gyms’ completion, the council will be holding two launch events at Manor Park and Langley Pavilion on Monday 19 March.
Members of the Active Slough team, Everyone Active and the Great Outdoor Gym company will be on hand to demonstrate to residents how the equipment works. All residents are welcome to come along!
The Manor Park launch takes place between 11am and 12.30pm and the Langley Pavilion launch takes place between 1pm and 2.30pm.
Created by The Great Outdoor Gym Company (TGO), the gyms are free for all to use, and you can turn up anytime to use them. There are now 11 green gyms across Slough and they cater for the whole community regardless of fitness levels.
The six new gyms can be used at the following locations:
• Manor Park
• Langley Pavilion
• Spring Gate Field
• Rochford Gardens
• Eltham Avenue
• The Cherries (funded by Wexham Parish Council)
Cllr Rob Anderson, cabinet member for environment and leisure, said: “The first wave of green gyms were so popular that we were keen to install more to ensure every resident has one in relatively close proximity to where they live.
“They are great for a number of reasons; they are free to use, fun, and encourage you to get out and do your exercise in the fresh air.
“And as part of our #BeRealistic campaign, using a green gym even once a week is a great way to make your pledge to move more.”
