Major improvement works at Slough’s Five Points junction began in February 2017.
The work at Five Points will involve improving the road layout and putting in ‘intelligent’ traffic lights that sense queues and adjust accordingly.
Some night-time road closures will be needed at different stages of the project. Advance warning boards will be put up beforehand.
Temporary traffic lights and partial lane closures will be in place for longer periods and will vary depending on which branch of the junction the council’s contractor (Amey) is working on.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, although it may involve diverting people from their usual routes.
Bus stops will be relocated as and when necessary. The council is currently liaising with Amey and First Bus Group to agree details.
The improvements at Five Points are due to be completed by June.
