Bringing DIY waste to recycling centres
From 1 January 2024 residents of Slough are able to dispose of DIY waste from small scale projects carried out by the householder. You can dispose of the following for free:
- two lots of 50 litre bags worth of DIY waste
- one large item of DIY waste (2m x 0.75m x 0.7m) (about the size of a bath tub or a shower screen).
You can make 4 visits during one month.
Please note:
- there may be conditions on certain materials; please check the lists before you come to the centre - items may be refused if the lists aren't followed.
- items we do not accept
- household items we accept free of charge.
- non household items that we accept and may have a charge - note you may be charged for these items, if you bring more than a limited amount of DIY waste.
- at the site:
- remove waste items out of any black sacks or plastic bags and
- separate your waste and recycling into the correct labelled containers
- waste disposed of in the non-recycling container will be sent for incineration at Lakeside Electricity from Waste (EfW).
Safety
- It is not permitted to park outside the centre and carry waste into the site.
- Children and pets must remain in your vehicle when visiting the site.
Opening hours
- Winter - 1 October to 31 March
- Monday to Sunday: 9am - 5pm.
- Summer - 1 April to 30 September
- Monday to Sunday: 9am - 6pm.
Last entry is 15 minutes before closing.
Days the site is closed
The public site is open 7 days a week, including bank holidays but does close on:
- Christmas Day – 25 December
- Boxing Day – 26 December and
- New Year's Day – 1 January.
