Active Slough

New online Active Slough programme

The entire Active Slough programme is currently postponed following the government's latest advice on COVID-19.

Instead we are launching an online physical activity programme, starting on Wednesday 25 March. There will be three 30-minute exercise classes a day, Monday-Friday, broadcast live from the Active Slough Facebook page.

At this time we realise the important role that different types of exercise have on people's mental and physical wellbeing. Keep checking online for new developments - you can follow us on social media using the links below right.

Guidelines on levels of physical activity

Updated physical activity guidelines have been issued by the four Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The UK CMOs draw upon global evidence to present guidelines for different age groups, covering the volume, duration, frequency and type of physical activity required across the life course to achieve health benefits.

A programme of sport and physical activity!

Regardless of age or ability there’s something for everyone.

The Active Slough team aim to be the inspiration behind a healthier lifestyle for the local community through supporting local sports clubs, organisations and groups in delivering local sport and physical activities for all ages across the town. Our aim is to aid the development and enhancement of new and fun play, sport and physical activity opportunities all over Slough.

Active Slough run a wide range of sport and physical activity sessions including football, dance, yoga, seated exercises, boxercise, cricket and many more, in partnership with clubs and organisations across the borough.

Almost everyone knows sport and physical activity is good for them, and most would like to do more. We need to make that an easy, practical, attractive choice, especially for people who tend not to take part in sport or activity now: women and girls, disabled people, those in lower socio-economic groups and older people.
