Marriage certificates and schedules
Since May 2021, couples are no longer invited to sign a marriage register.
Instead, you will be invited to sign a marriage schedule.
The marriage schedule will be used to create your marriage certificate.
In the old-style marriage register, you could only put the father’s name. On the new marriage schedule, you can include up to 4 parents (e.g. mother, father, step-mother and step-father).
You will not receive your marriage certificate on the day of the marriage. Instead, your certificate will be processed by the Register Office, usually within 5 days. It will be posted to you.
