Refugee advice

eVisas are coming

If you have a BRP card, you will need to create an eVisa acccount by 31 December 2024.

Find out more about eVisa (GOV.UK).

If you have recently received refugee status please find details on the next steps to resettlement.

If you have been living in Home Office accomodation you will have to leave within 28 days of receiving status. This does not give you much time, so it is very important that you start planning for what to do after you leave the accommodation.

If you have not received your Biometric Residence Permit

If you

  • have not received your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card or
  • there is an error with your BRP card

contact Migrant Help as soon as possible. You should not be evicted from your accommodation until you have a BRP with the correct details.

For Migrant Help:

If you are coming from Ukraine, you will have been sent details of where to pick up your BRP card.

Next steps

Your next steps should be:

  • open a bank account
  • claim Universal Credit
  • look for a job
  • search for housing
  • improve your English language and basic digital skills.
