Equality and discrimination advice

The Equality Act 2010 makes it illegal for public services and private businesses to discriminate on the grounds of age, disability, gender, race, religion and belief, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, sexual orientation and gender reassignment.

If you feel you have been the victim of discrimination you can contact the:

  • Equality Advisory Support Service on 0808 800 0082 or
  • the Equality and Human Rights Commission. The Commission provides extensive information and support to individuals, public and voluntary organisations and businesses on all aspects of equalities legislation and human rights.

There are practical guides to assist business in meeting their equality obligations and ensuring that their services are fair and accessible. This includes making reasonable adjustments for disabled people.

If you have any concerns about equality issues relating directly to Slough Borough Council services or employment, please email the Equality and Diversity Manager equalities@slough.gov.uk.
