Apprenticeships

The Slough Academy

The Slough Academy oversees all council apprentices and the continuous professional development of staff to provide the best services for Slough's residents. We recruit new talent to bridge skills gaps.

Apprenticeship vacancies are available to people of any age, however you must be 16 at the start of the apprenticeship.   Our apprenticeships include a range of programmes from level 2 (GCSE) to level 7 (Post-Graduate degrees) in professions such as planning, social work, childcare, leisure and many more.

All apprenticeships are paid jobs with competitive salaries and access to all the same benefits as other council colleagues. As well as gaining hands on experience, apprentices get 20 per cent of time off-the-job to study and prepare for assessments.

There are a range of apprenticeship opportunities with rewarding careers in professions such as:

  • planning
  • housing
  • finance
  • education and childcare
  • transport
  • youth work
  • leisure.
