Designated premises supervisor (DPS) variation
Before you apply
Premises licences that authorise the sale of alcohol must specify an individual as the designated premises supervisor (DPS).
Only the licence holder can apply to vary a DPS nominated on a premises licence.
- If the licence is held in a company name, you must apply in the company name.
- If the licence is held by an individual, you must apply as an individual.
The DPS must hold a personal licence and be over 18 years of age.
The proposed DPS must complete and sign a consent form as you will need to include this with your application.
PLEASE NOTE: Any proposed DPS must be entitled to work in the United Kingdon and must not be subject to a condition preventing them from doing work relating to the carrying on of a licensable activity.

- Pay for DPS application fee through our payment portal - £23 Statutory.
The applicant must email or post a copy of the vary DPS application to Thames Valley Police.

Please note: the Licensing Team will only start to process the application once a valid application form and consent has been received, along with the stautory fee of £23.
Application approval (tacit consent)
If the Chief Officer of Police for the area where the premises is located believes the application would undermine the crime prevention licensing objective; they must notify the Licensing Authority within 14 days.
If no such notice is received, your application is automatically approved and the variation of the DPS will take effect from the date you have specified in your application. We will send you a revised premise licence and licence summary.
If representations are received, a hearing will be held within 20 working days after the end of the consideration period. Premises licences that authorise the sale of alcohol must specify an individual as the DPS.
