Applicants for a private hire operator’s licence must:
- be aged 21 or over and
- must have the right to live and work in the UK.

Applicants are required to have a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. You can apply for a basic DBS from the government website.
Applicants must provide the following documents:
- valid passport/proof of right to work
- valid driving licence
- proof of national insurance number (e.g. P45 or P60)
- proof of address (e.g. a utility bill or bank statement issued within the last three months).

Please note: A DBS disclosure certificate is valid for 28 days from the date of issue. We do not receive a copy of the DBS certificate. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make sure the original certificate has been produced to the licensing office within the 28 days.
