Fees
- There is a planning application fee when you submit any type of planning application.
- There is also a service charge to cover the cost of administering the application.
Important: we will not process or register your planning application until the relevant service charge has been paid.
The Planning Portal applies a service charge for processing payments for planning applications.
If you choose to submit your application direct to us, through electronic methods such as email, or in hard copy by post, a service charge equal to that charged by the Planning Portal will be payable as well as the application fee. This additional service charge is due to the additional manual processing needed to validate and process applications received in this way.
Invalid applications
You will need to submit applications with all the required documentation to make them valid. If you do not then the application will be invalid.
We will return the application and its fee to the applicant minus an administrative charge equal to 10% of the planning application fee when:
- an application is invalid for a period of four weeks, either due to non-submission of correct documentation (unless a longer period is agreed by the council due to the type of documentation required), inactivity, or lack of communication from the applicant or their agent, or
- if you withdraw the application after notification that it is invalid.
Important: if we return your application then we do not refund any service charge that you have paid, as well as the application fee. These charges will only be waived in exceptional circumstances. You can email planning@slough.gov.uk with any requests.
In case of a dispute over a service charge please refer to the council’s complaints procedure.
