Surge testing for the covid delta variant has begun in Slough.
Testing centres are now open at:
- The Centre, Farnham Road – Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday 8am to 6pm and Sunday 8am to 4pm
- Town Square, High Street – Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday 8am to 6pm and Sunday 8am to 4pm
- Arbour Park, Stoke Road – Monday to Sunday 12noon to 6pm
From tomorrow (Saturday 19 June) there will also be a centre at the Ramgarhia Sikh Gurdwara, Woodland Avenue, Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.
Home visits will also begin from tomorrow (Saturday) with around 6,000 residents in the surge target area being delivered their own personal tests which will then be collected from them.
Sue Foley, Public Health Consultant for Slough Borough Council, said: “Unfortunately there was a short delay in launching the surge testing due to us not receiving any test kits from government.
“Luckily 10,000 kits arrived this morning and we have immediately mobilised our testing centres.
“No appointments are necessary for a test – just turn up during opening hours – and make sure you don’t have covid and aren’t putting yourself and others at risk with the simple test.”

Alongside surge testing, the council’s health partners have launched surge vaccinations with special sessions running all weekend for any Slough resident over 18 years old.
No appointment necessary vaccinations are taking place at:
- Town Square, High Street – Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 6pm (Pfizer and AstraZeneca on Saturday, Pfizer only on Sunday)
- Langley Health Centre – Saturday and Sunday, 8.30am to 7.30pm (Pfizer only)
- St Thomas’s Church, Colnbrook – Sunday only, 11am to 6pm (Pfizer only)
And then Monday to Friday next week at Salt Hill Activity Centre, Salt Hill Park, 5pm to 8pm (Pfizer and AstraZeneca)
Sue added: “The best way to protect yourself against the potentially serious effects of covid is to get a vaccine. So, make sure you take advantage of these excellent pop up vaccination centres where anyone over 18 can get their jab with no appointment required.”
Anyone visiting the vaccine centres is advised to bring a drink, appropriate clothing in case of rain, and be prepared to wait.
You can still get a lateral flow test from Langley Pavillion, Tuesday to Saturday 8am to 8pm
