Have your say on the council’s plan for the future

Slough Borough Council has launched a consultation into a newly published draft corporate plan for the organisation and what they intend to deliver in the town.

The plan sets out the council’s:

  • Purpose – their key mission statement and driving focus
  • Approach – the type of council they wish to be, their values, how they will work and their relationship with residents
  • Priorities – the key challenges they will look to address over the next four years

The council is now seeking views on the draft and wants to hear from as many people as possible on:

  • If you think they have got the vision right
  • If the approach they have for set out for the council is the right one
  • Whether you agree with the key priorities they have identified

Stephen Brown, chief executive, said: “This plan is the key strategy document for us and shows, not only how we intend to continue to recover from the financial crisis of two years ago, but what we want to deliver for the town and its residents.

“This is a new start for Slough Borough Council, a new senior team, a new political administration and now a new strategy and way forward which rightly focuses on our children, the health inequalities in our town and Slough.

“Please have your say.”

Councillor Dexter Smith, leader of the council, said: “We are committed to positively engaging with residents, businesses, partners and our other stakeholders in our decision making and your feedback on this plan is very important to us.

“This corporate plan puts an important focus on the health inequalities in Slough, and on our children’s healthy futures.

“I look forward to receiving residents’ feedback, and if you struggle to have your say online – library staff are available to help you.”

The consultation opened this week and will close on 7 August.

All consultation feedback will be analysed and considered and will help the council make a final decision on the corporate plan, which is due to be considered for adoption in September.
