Business networking event

Business representatives are invited along to an event with the council Chief Executive, to discuss how to grow Slough’s economy and sustain it as a place to do business.

Slough Borough Council, in partnership with The Federation of Small Businesses and Slough BID, is hosting the 'Shaping the Future Growth of Slough Business Together Event'.

Slough businesses are facing a multitude of challenges to their future growth. Brexit, the costs of living crisis, the high prevailing rate of inflation and the recent increases in interest rates appear to have impacted business across the town.

It is with these challenges in mind that the council’s Chief Executive, Stephen Brown, intends to review the impact to date on SMEs, Start-ups and Scale-ups.

The event is on Thursday 12 October, from 6-8pm, at Arbour Park Football Stadium, Stoke Road, Slough, SL2 5AY.

Councillor Dexter Smith, leader of the council, said: “I am very much looking forward to this event and the chance to talk to local business representatives. Slough has always been a fantastic place to do business and we need to know about the challenges businesses are facing, to see what we can do to help, and keep Slough as a place people want to invest in.”

James Anderson, FSB Thames Valley, said: "FSB are delighted to be working with all partners on this and am thrilled that Slough Borough Council in particular are so committed to gathering with and listening to small business owners, who are the backbone of our community.”

Clarissa Parker, Slough BID, said: “Slough BID are honoured to be party to the Business Networking Event, which is a wonderful opportunity for local business owners to network and discuss issues they experience. The BID is keen to continue our engagement and focus with local businesses and work with Slough Borough Council and partners to ensure that local business needs are heeded.”

The programme includes a welcome address from Councillor Smith, an address from Stephen Brown, and a question and answer session.

The evening will end with a networking event and a chance to talk to exhibitors, which will include Berkshire Growth Hub, NHS Frimley, Plus X Innovation, Slough BID, Slough Borough Council, The Federation of Small Businesses, The FSE Group, Salt Hill VR and The Slough Hub.

During the networking evening, attendees can discuss the needs, issues and challenges facing their business and can connect with supply chain opportunities.

The event will also showcase the wide-ranging support available from the council and its partners.
