Experimental A4 Bath Road Service Road closure

A4 Bath Road, opposite Leigh Road

Works in advance of an experimental road closure will be happening from 5 May.

The experimental road closure on the southern A4 Bath Road service road and its junction with A4 Bath Road opposite Leigh Road, will be in place for at least six months, after which a decision will be made on whether to make the closure permanent or not.

The experimental road closure is being introduced to improve road safety, designed to support the A4 Bath Road cycleway project, enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists, improve connectivity and reduce congestion on the A4 Bath Road.

Councillor Paul Kelly, lead member for housing, highways, planning and transport, said: “Closing this access point would create a safer crossing for pedestrians and streamline traffic flow by removing a stage from the signalised junction. I would encourage those who use the service road to respond and share how the closure affects them.”

Vehicle access to the service road will still be available via the junctions of Twinches Lane and Ipswich Road.

During the period of closure, there will be signage to inform drivers and temporary boltdown kerb units at the access point to the service road.

Residents and businesses will be invited to share their views about the experimental closure of part of a service road from 19 May, when works to install the closure are due to be completed.

The online survey will be available from 19 May or email transportplanning@slough.gov.uk with the reference ‘Experimental A4 Bath Road Service Road access/egress opposite Leigh Road closure’ with any comments and state if you are in favour of or opposed to the scheme.
