The Safer Langley: Clear, Hold, Build initiative has been declared the winner of the 2025 Thames Valley Police Laycock Award.

The Laycock Awards, named in the honour of Professor Gloria Laycock OBE, recognise the best examples of problem solving following the OSARA problem solving process.

The Safer Langley: Clear, Hold, Build which launched in November last year, is a collaborative initiative aimed at creating a safer, more resilient Langley by removing the harmful influence of organised crime.

This multi-agency initiative, led by Thames Valley Police and Slough Borough Council, aims to work alongside local partners to focus on the issues that matter most to the Langley community, including crime, anti-social behaviour, health, youth opportunities, business development and employability.

Since launching the initiative has resulted in 67 stop searches and 41 arrests through officers carrying out high-impact patrols.

Detective Chief Inspector, Sukhveer Sokhi said: "Over recent years Langley has faced significant challenges, but as Thames Valley Police’s first Clear, Hold, Build site Langley has become a blueprint for transformation. I am delighted that the work has been recognised as part of the Laycock Awards.

“Through effective problem-solving policing with partners and the communities we’re relentlessly rooting out the evil that is serious and organised crime and restoring pride back into the Langley community.”

Key partners include: Langley Neighbourhood Watch, Thames Valley Office of the Police Crime Commissioner, Thames Valley Violence Prevention Partnership, Communities Against Violence, Love Music Hate Violence, Langley College, Abri Housing Association, Department for Work and Pensions, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Turning Point, Langley Academy, Slough Children First, Together As One (Aik Saath), HCRG Care Group, Everyone Active, Lime, Foxborough Primary School, Marriot Hotels, Slough Youth Action, and Langley Neighbourhood Action Group.
