Bruce Hicks, senior parks improvement officer, said: “It’s such a pleasure to be supporting Slough in Bloom in its 31st year. There are lots of categories including pots and flower baskets, so anyone can enter the competition even if they only have a balcony or doorstep. I look forward to seeing the entries which really make the borough a cheerful place to live and visit. The Slough in Bloom competition is made possible by kind donations from our sponsors. To keep the competition running, the committee would welcome any new sponsors.”
Margaret Inniss, Chair of Slough in Bloom, said: “The committee of Slough in Bloom is very excited to have launched the competition this month with a photocall in Herschel Park and a display in the town centre. We had a very successful 30th year in 2024 and hope to build on that success with more entries from residents, businesses, and others this year. Now spring weather is with us, help brighten the town for all who live, work in, or visit Slough. It is a good time to prepare your garden ready for the judging in July. We are looking forward to viewing your efforts. Good luck!”
Councillor Gurcharan Manku, lead member responsible for environment, environmental services, and open spaces, said: “We are so lucky to have had this competition running in Slough for the last 31 years and that is all down to the dedicated Slough in Bloom Committee who give their time to make the borough a brighter place to live. Thank you so much for all of the time and effort you have put into encouraging residents and businesses to enhance their environments. Whether it is a dazzling window box, thriving allotment, or a creative environmental project there is plenty of time to enter and show off your beautiful creations.”
