A scheme which provides help and support for those feeling scared, vulnerable, anxious or at risk, has relaunched.
Safe Places is a national initiative where registered venues sign up to become a Safe Place and will have a sticker visible in their windows so people know they can go inside for support.
The Safer Slough Partnership has signed up as a member which means details of all the Safe Places in Slough will be listed on the national website. They could be a safe haven for women and girls, those who have learning disabilities, are elderly, have a physical disability, or have a mental health problem.
We have made a video to explain more about what the Safe Places scheme is.
The scheme has been in Slough before, but this relaunch means there are new super hubs with a defibrillator and bleed kit, and staff on site will be trained in the use of both. The bleed kit can be used in an emergency to stem bleeding before help can arrive.
Councillor Ejaz Ahmed, lead member for communities, sport, leisure and public protection, said: “I am so pleased to support the launch of the Safe Places Scheme in Slough which will provide essential support to those who may feel vulnerable when they are out in their local community.
“It is great to have the super hubs where there is potentially life-saving equipment to hand. Thank you to the businesses and venues that have signed up as a Safe Place and we would encourage more to sign up. They could really help someone at their time of need.”
Currently, there are 21 venues signed up as Safe Places, including the two super hubs.

Staff at the businesses will be trained on what to do to offer support or make a call to a carer or safe contact on the person’s behalf. To find out more, contact communitysafety1@slough.gov.uk
