Slough Borough Council is encouraging residents, workplaces, schools, and community groups to get involved in Cycle September, a free, month-long celebration of biking that began on Monday (1 Sept).
Cycle September is all about helping more people discover the joy of riding. The challenge is open to everyone, regardless of experience or fitness level.
Participation is simple. People are encouraged to ride throughout the month of September. All rides count - whether it’s a short trip to the shops, a daily commute, or a weekend adventure - and there are local, national, and industry leaderboards with great prizes to be won.
Councillor Paul Kelly, lead member for planning, parking, highways and transport, said: “The challenge is a great way to build healthy habits, support sustainability, and bring the community together.
“Cycle September is for everyone - no special gear needed, no pressure to ride long distances. Every ride counts. It’s an opportunity to get outside, feel good and connect with others in Slough.”
There is a Slough cycling group, Slough Freewheelers, which meets monthly for rides, with the next one on 13 September.
Registration is quick and free. For more information and resources, visit the Love to Ride website.
