New online tool launched to help residents live independently

AskSARA

Residents in Slough and the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead can now access free, expert advice to support their independent living through a new online service.

AskSARA, a new online self-assessment tool, offers quick, personalised advice on equipment and technology to make everyday tasks easier. Covering more than 90 topics, the tool guides users through a simple set of questions and generates a tailored report with impartial recommendations. It’s free to use, doesn’t require sign-up, and doesn’t collect personal data.

Whether you're an unpaid carer, a health professional, or someone facing challenges in daily life, AskSARA is designed to be accessible and user-friendly.

Cllr Anna Wright, lead member for adult social care, said: “I am so pleased to see the launch of AskSARA, our new online self-assessment tool in partnership with the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead. The main benefit of AskSARA is that it provides residents with instant, personalised advice on practical equipment and technology to help them live independently. Carers and family members can also use the online tool, which also signposts to useful local services.”

The system has been developed by Living Made Easy, part of the Shaw Trust – a national charity supporting people with complex needs. Advice is created by qualified Occupational Therapists, so users can be confident they’re receiving trusted guidance. If the tool identifies that someone may benefit from further assessment, it will signpost them to appropriate support.
