Slough woman guilty of neglecting dog

Stormi

A woman who neglected her pet dog has been disqualified from keeping any animal for 10 years.

On 24 May 2024, police, the RSPCA, and council officers attended a council property on Egerton Road, Slough, due to reports a dog had been left within the property unattended for approximately three weeks.

Jade Williamson, aged 37, and her four children, are the registered tenants and occupants. They were not present at the time. Police forced entry due to concern about the dog and found a female Cane Corso type, now known to be called Stormi.

Stormi was in poor bodily condition and was found to weigh less than half her ideal body weight. In addition, the conditions the dog was being kept in were poor, there was rubbish, faeces and other harmful items present throughout the room.

The rest of the property internally and externally was in a poorly kept condition, with rubbish and other items strewn about through each room and the garden areas. There was also evidence of a large build-up of older faeces in the garden area.

Stormi was immediately taken to a vet, who undertook a number of tests which indicated that her condition was purely down to a lack of food and that she was suffering severe malnutrition. At this point a council officer formally took Stormi into possession, pending an investigation.

Jade Williamson stated that Stormi was purchased in 2020 for £2,000 and imported from Romania into the UK, and documents provided confirmed this. The council had previously had to intervene in late 2020 due to complaints about dog noise, the dog’s living conditions and the condition of the property's rear garden.

She also stated that in April / May 2024 she and her children had been living at a relatives' house due to family issues and had left Stormi in the care of another person who she claimed she was paying to care for her. Jade Williamson refused to name this person throughout the investigation, but it became clear that she was only staying at an address 10 minutes’ walk from Egerton Road but had never visited to check how Stormi was doing.

An investigation was undertaken to try and identify this person; however, no information ever came to light to suggest such an arrangement had been made and with who.

On 2 May 2025 Jade Williamson attended Slough Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to Animal Welfare Act 2006 offences section 4 Causing Unnecessary Suffering and section 9 failure of Duty of Care.

Subsequently Jade Williamson was sentenced on 26 September 2025 in her absence at Slough Magistrates’ Court. She was disqualified from keeping any animal for a period of 10 years, fined £120, must pay a Victim Surcharge of £48 and costs of £1531.70. This will be a total of £1699.70, deducted from benefits.

During the investigation Stormi was surrendered to Slough Borough Council and after a period of rehabilitation and care she made a full recovery and was successfully rehomed.

Cllr Ejaz Ahmed, lead member for communities, sport, leisure, and public protection, said: “Thank you to the police, the RSPCA and our council officers who worked together to ensure that this dog was taken away from her owner who neglected her so badly. It is great to hear that Stormi made a full recovery and was rehomed. I am incredibly grateful to our residents who came forward and reported concerns about this dog before it was too late, as there could have been a very different outcome.”
