We’re delighted to share that the Slough Youth Awards are returning this year, a celebration of the incredible young people who make a positive difference in Slough.
Do you know an amazing young person or youth group in Slough who deserves recognition? Maybe they’ve shown resilience through challenges, made a difference in their community, or expressed their talents through creativity or sport. Now’s the time to celebrate them!
Now in its 10th year, the awards are supported by the council’s Youth Voice team and Slough Youth Parliament. The annual ceremony started from the very first youth parliament’s manifesto commitment to raise the profile of young people in a positive way, by celebrating their many achievements.
We’re inviting schools, youth organisations and community groups to nominate young people aged 11–18 (up to 25 with SEND) for one or more of the following award categories:
- Creative Expression Award – for young people or groups passionate about creative arts such as writing, poetry, music, filmmaking, visual arts or performance.
- Being Active Ambassador – for those championing active lifestyles, excelling in sport or inspiring others to get moving.
- Resilience Award – for young people or groups who have shown courage, perseverance and strength in overcoming challenges.
- Going Green Champion – for those leading on environmental action, eco-projects or community sustainability.
- Being Ambitious Award – for young people achieving outstanding personal success in education, work or enterprise.
All nominees will be invited to a celebration evening filled with performances, food, networking and of course where winners and runners-up will be revealed!

This year’s awards will take place on Friday 28 November, 6-9pm (ceremony starting at 7pm) at Lynch Hill Academy, marking 10 years since the first Slough Youth Parliament was elected.
The awards were created to shine a positive spotlight on young people who are making a difference and that mission continues today with the support of the Youth Voice Team and SYP’s manifesto.
This year, we’re also proud to highlight our partnership with Slough CVS and the One Slough Awards through the Young Volunteer of the Year Award, recognising outstanding youth volunteering and its impact on our community. This will be announced at their awards on 14 November.
Councillor Puja Bedi, lead member for children and lifelong learning, said: “We are so proud of all our young people in Slough. Many past winners of the Slough Youth Awards have gone on to amazing achievements such as working with Sky TV, sitting on national committees, volunteering in their communities and progressing successfully into higher education and careers.
“If you know a young person who you think excels in one of our six categories, please get your nominations in before 7 November.
“The judging panel looks forward every year to reading all about the amazing contributions to the community Slough’s youth have made.”
