Secondary school admissions

Late applications and changes to Year 7 (September 2026) application

Late applications

Secondary school place in Year 7 in September 2026

The national closing date for applications is 31 October 2025. If you have not applied for a secondary school place by 31 October, you must submit a late application which will be available to Slough residents from 1 November 2025.

Submitting a late application can greatly reduce your chance of getting a place at one of your preferred schools as the places may already have been given to other children.

Late applications will only be considered and processed after all places have been allocated to applicants who applied on time.

Changes to Year 7 (September 2026) application

Any changes to your application will be considered after you receive your offer. Places for September 2026 go out to timely Slough applicants on or after national offer day:

  • 2 March 2026 for Secondary (Year 7) transfer.

If you wish to change your school preferences or their order, you are required to complete the school change a place application form to apply for a change to your offered place for September 2026 for:

  • Secondary (Year 7) transfer.

However, if you do this, your new form will be considered with other late applications in subsequent allocation rounds. Your new application will supersede any previous application. It is important to stress that you need to be realistic if you are considering changing preferences. Any or all of the preferred schools you list on your revised application may already be full. In which case, your child will be added to the waiting list of the school(s).  You may wish to consider discussing this with the admissions team before submitting a revised application.
