At Slough Borough Council, we recognise our ability to deliver great services to our residents relies on our great staff. Investing in our people is at the heart of our Workforce Strategy.
We are committed to building a workforce that reflects Slough’s diversity and attracts local talent and care experienced people, ensuring our staff understand the lived experience of the communities we serve.
By listening to our staff through initiatives like the 2024 Our People Poll and LGA equalities peer review, we are shaping a supportive, inclusive, and ambitious working environment where all employees can thrive.
This strategy sets out our commitment to creating a high-performing, inclusive culture where all staff can thrive. Informed by staff feedback, it focuses on four key People Priorities that require action and ownership across every level of the organisation:
- Getting the basics right – Equipping staff with the tools, information and support they need to do their jobs effectively.
- Building trust and empowering our people – Creating a culture of transparency, learning and shared leadership.
- Fostering a healthy and inclusive environment – Promoting wellbeing and belonging for all staff.
- Building a positive and transformative culture – Enabling our people to grow, lead and deliver the best outcomes for Slough residents.
Slough's Workforce Strategy also lists the actions we’ll deliver, the outcomes we aim to achieve and the measures of success, as well as our HR’s offer to staff and HR’s ask of our staff.
Our workforce strategy is a live document, formed by the insights of staff from across the organisation, and developed in collaboration with our Staff networks, Our People Forum and Trade unions.
