Modeshift STARS
Since 2021, Slough Borough Council’s Places & Community Team have been engaging with Slough schools on Modeshift STARS and Active Travel activities.
Modeshift STARS is a an online application that provides a comprehensive Travel Plan tool that assists schools in:
- creating, developing and implementing travel plans
- monitoring and evaluating travel plans and the initiatives contained within them
- recognising and rewarding excellence in the promotion of sustainable and active travel.
Schools are awarded Green, Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum accreditation.
We are currently working with over 30 schools who have signed up to Modeshift STARS and are working towards an accreditation. We are encouraging more schools to sign up.
Activity cards
We have created a series of activity cards to support schools on their Modeshift STARS journeys. They can be adapted to suit all schools.

Sustainable Travel Grant (STG) scheme
This scheme is available to schools to:
- develop and carry out travel plans
- provide financial support to schools.
