Stalking

Stalking is when someone gives you unwanted attention that happens more than once and causes you fear, anxiety or distress.

It is a criminal offence under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997

Examples of stalking include:Web stalker working on laptop in the dark

  • Repeatedly following someone
  • Trying to contact them (calls, texts, messages, emails etc.)
  • Posting personal information about them online
  • Watching or tracking their activity online or in real life
  • Hanging around their home, workplace or places they visit
  • Damaging or interfering with their belongings or property
  • Sending unwanted gifts, letters or messages.
