Guidance for primary school applications
If you are unsure which schools to apply for, research your options by:
- visiting local schools
- talking to other parents
- check Ofsted reports
- review school league tables.
When applying for a Reception or Infant to Junior (Year 3) transfer for September 2026, please note:
- you may list up to three school preferences
- rank your preferences in the order you would like them offered
- complete the application form fully and honestly
- you must apply to the local authority where you and your child reside and you must provide proof of address to verify the address used in your child’s application. Applications from outside Slough will not be accepted
- if you know you are moving house, you must inform School Admissions as soon as possible and provide proof of your change of address
- do not list the same school more than once, it will not increase your chance of being offered a place
- you must submit your application before the publicised closing date. If you submit after this date, your application will be treated as late. Allocation of school places to late applicants will be completed after those that were received on time.
Receiving an offer
- If more than one of your preferred schools can offer a place, you will only receive the offer for your highest ranked school that can be offered.
- If we cannot offer a place at any of your preferred schools, you will be offered a place at the nearest available school with a vacancy.
