Visitor Guidance and Environmental Responsibility

Environmental Responsibility

Slough Cemetery and Crematorium is set in peaceful, open grounds with expansive lawns and mature trees, offering a calm and reflective environment for all who visit.

The grounds are home to a variety of local wildlife, including birds, squirrels, and the occasional deer, which may be seen during quieter moments.

We are committed to maintaining a respectful and natural setting that supports both remembrance and biodiversity. While there is no formal memorial garden, ashes are often scattered in designated areas during cremation ceremonies, in line with the wishes of families.

Fresh flowers are always welcome. However, please be aware that local wildlife - particularly deer and squirrels - may sometimes be drawn to them and may nibble or disturb floral arrangements.

To help us care for the environment, we kindly ask visitors to:

  • Use the grey bins in the car park for plastic wrapping and general rubbish
  • Use the green bins for perished flowers and garden waste
  • Do not leave food or drink tributes, as they can harm wildlife
  • Try to use biodegradable or natural materials when leaving tributes
  • Dogs are not allowed on site, except for registered assistance dogs.

Our team works hard to keep the grounds clean, safe, and respectful for both people and wildlife. Your support helps us preserve this special place for everyone.
